Intelligrated announces expansion in U.S., new partnership with SDI in Brazil

Intelligrated, a multi-faceted provider of automated material handling solutions, announced two significant developments at MODEX on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

In January the company broke ground on a new facility at its home base of Mason, Ohio. The new building will accommodate a planned expansion of engineering, research and development, and administrative staff and testing facilities. An incentive package from the state of Ohio and the city of Mason will support the job-creating expansion.

Intelligrated reached more than $500 million in bookings in 2011, with more than 20 percent of bookings overseas, said CEO Chris Cole at a press conference. It has also hired 100 new employees in the last two months and is seeking to hire a similar number and is investing in new manufacturing facilities and upgrading most of its existing production, Cole said.

Intelligrated and SDI Industries executives also announced a joint operation in the fast-growing market of Brazil. The companies, which provide complementary material handling solutions and have long partnered on projects in the United States and internationally, have formed a formal partnership in São Paulo, Brazil, that will combine their expertise and resources in sales, engineering, project management, customer service, spare parts support, and after-sale support. SDI has been operating in Brazil for five years and has been in South America since 1992. Both companies see the region as having high growth potential, particularly in retail, apparel, and e-commerce fulfillment, said Ralph Henderson, vice president, sales for SDI.
